Frequently Asked Questions
1. What Do Your Charitable Contributions Cover?
Within the Maryland, DC, Virginia and West Virginia communities, we are flexible in what our contributions cover, since we know that each applicant's needs and situation will be different. In addition to providing care packages to local rehab centers, some of the items we cover include: Medical supplies (this might include things such as catheter supplies or self-care items that are not covered by insurance); Equipment not covered by insurance (standing frames, wheelchair accessories and adaptions, recreational adaptive equipment, walkers or mobility devices, pediatric feeding tools or seating devices, etc). In the future, we hope to diversify what we cover to include grants for ADA friendly retreats and home adaptions. It never hurts to submit an application if you don't see what you need listed above. We will work our best to help you in some capacity!
2. What Is Your Approval Process?
Our goal is to always strive to provide each and every applicant with the financial needs they request. Sometimes, this isn't possible as we are a fully volunteer and charitable foundation that relies on the public for donations. After an individual fills out the application, it is reviewed by the board. We take into account things such as urgency of need, financial status, purpose of the request and any applicable letters from medical professionals.
3. How Do You Distribute Funds?
To ensure our charitable contributions go towards what we intend, we try to purchase the equipment directly through the vendor whenever possible. When this is not feasible, we do request that you submit a photo of the equipment/supplies within 30 days of receipt :)
